Portland streetcar expansion nears opening

Trinity Industries buys manufacturing sites

Dallas-based Trinity Industries, Inc. late Thursday announced it will purchase 665,000 square feet of heavy manufacturing capacity from DMI Industries, a subsidiary of Fargo, N.D.-based Otter Tail Corp., for $20 million. The facilities are located in West Fargo, N.D., Tulsa, Okla., and Fort Erie, Ontario.

U.S. ends August with mixed traffic results

U.S. freight carload traffic for the week ending Sept. 1 declined 3.4% measured against the comparable week of 2011, the Association of American Railroads said Thursday. But U.S. intermodal continued its winning streak, up a robust 6.5% during the week compared with one year ago.

Twin Cities symbolic link ties two LRT lines
