The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) said Thursday Flora M. Castillo is APTA’s 2012-2013 chair, “officially assuming the office at the start of the APTA Annual Meeting on October 1 in Seattle, Wash.”
FreightCar America, Inc. early Friday said Robert S. Andress has been named vice president, manufacturing. Andress will lead the company’s new car manufacturing activities at Roanoke, Va. and Danville, Ill.
U.S. freight carload volume for the week ending Oct. 6, 2012 notched another decline, down 6.3% from the comparable week in 2011, the Association of American Railroads reported Thursday. But U.S. intermodal continued its counterbalancing act, with volume up 3.8% during the week compared with a year ago.
