Missouri Intermodal Port Site ‘Primed for Growth’

A 300-acre intermodal Port District zoned property along the Mississippi River in Herculaneum, Mo., is being called a “unique and unprecedented opportunity for intermodal development,” according to the St. Louis Regional Freightway, citing the location’s more than two miles of river frontage, 200-acre buffer, 30,000 linear feet of Union Pacific (UP)-operated rail and access to Interstate 55.

North Carolina is home to two Class I railroads and 24 short line railroads.

NCDOT Report Shows Rail’s Importance to Economy

New White Paper Explores Partnership to Complete Northwest Rail

The Polis Administration, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and the Front Range Passenger Rail District (FRPRD) recently released a white paper that explores the possibility of a new partnership that would enable Colorado to complete the voter-approved Northwest Rail line between Denver, Boulder and Longmont, and to build the first phase of Front Rage Passenger Rail (FRPR) by extending service to Fort Collins. This rail service would use the existing BNSF Front Range Subdivision through Boulder, Longmont, Loveland and Fort Collins (FRPR Northwest Phase 1).

J.B. Hunt to Purchase Walmart’s Intermodal Assets

J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. (J.B. Hunt) announced Feb. 22 that its subsidiary, J.B. Hunt Transport Inc., has entered into a multi-year intermodal service agreement with Walmart, in an arrangement that includes J.B. Hunt’s purchase of Walmart’s intermodal assets.
