Port of Long Beach: Second-Busiest August on Record

Peak shipping season boosted the Port of Long Beach, Calif., to its second-busiest August on record and the sixth-busiest month in its 114-year history “as retailers continued to see the arrival of goods purchased during a recent pause in tariffs,” the Port reported on Sept. 15.

More than 2,200 local government leaders from across the country are pressing congressional lawmakers to oppose any increases in truck size or weight, including heavier single-trailer trucks, according to the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks (CABT).

Piper Networks Launches NTSB-Compliant Collision Avoidance Kit

Piper Networks on Sept. 15 announced that it has introduced a version of its Limits Compliance and Collision Avoidance System (LCCAS) to help railroads “rapidly comply with the specific functional safety requirements recommended by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) for rail-bound maintenance vehicles.”
