Elavon Launches Mass Transit Payments
Payment processing solutions company Elavon, a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bank, launched on Sept. 27 Mass Transit Payments, “a streamlined way for public transit agencies and private providers of all sizes to offer contactless payment acceptance from any enabled card or mobile device.”

Alstom Signs Ferromex Locomotive Maintenance Contract
Alstom announced on Sept. 22 that it has signed a contract renewal to “carry out preventive and corrective maintenance” on 186 locomotives of the Ferrocarril Mexicano (Ferromex) fleet for a period of five years, starting immediately.
Intermodal Briefs: Rocky Mountain Rail Park, Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, PANYNJ
Rocky Mountain Industrials, Inc. (RMI) engages JHL Constructors, Inc. (JHL) to begin construction of Rocky Mountain Rail Park’s northern parcel. Also, container dwell fee at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach is put on hold through Oct. 21; and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) reports facility volumes for August 2022.

Progress Rail to Supply BNSF with Zero Exhaust Emission Locomotives
Progress Rail (a Caterpillar Company) announced on Sept. 23 that it is supplying up to four EMD® Joule battery electric locomotives to BNSF Railway (BNSF). Supported in part by grant funding, the locomotives, to be delivered in 2024, would replace BNSF diesel units operating in Southern California, with charging systems for continuous operation.
