KONUX, Miller Ingenuity Receive REMSA 2023 Innovation Award

The Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA) has named KONUX a 2023 Innovation Award Winner in the Technology Category for its Switch predictive maintenance system; Miller Ingenuity has also been named a winner in the Product Category for its ZoneGuard Yard Protection System.

Canadian Pacific Kansas City’s (CPKC) restoration crew completes 250-mile test run of the 2816 Empress steam locomotive. Also, CSX reaches a one-year injury-free milestone at its Rice Yard in Waycross, Ga.; and Norfolk Southern (NS) completes the restoration of its Virginian Heritage locomotive and introduces Digital Train Inspection (DTI) portal, now under construction in Ohio.

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announces next phase of service increases to begin on 1 and 6 subway lines. AAR: North American Rail Volume Down Through 31 Weeks

For the first 31 weeks of 2023 (ending Aug. 5), total U.S. weekly rail traffic dipped 4.1% from the same point last year, according to the Association of American Railroads’ (AAR) Aug. 9 report. Both Canada and the U.S. saw declines, while Mexico saw an increase.
