CHSRA, Hollywood Burbank Airport Reach Settlement Agreement

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) announced Nov. 16 that it has reached an agreement with the Burbank-Glendale Pasadena Airport Authority dismissing the Airport Authority’s lawsuit regarding the high-speed rail project and clearing the way for high-speed rail construction from Burbank to Los Angeles Union Station.

Metrolinx makes its PRESTO card available in Google Wallet. Also, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (NYMTA) announces that the New York City subway has hit one billion rides this year; and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) will introduce a new name and look to its rail system in 2024.

Stantec to Acquire ZETCON Engineering

Stantec on Nov. 14 announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire ZETCON Engineering, a 645-person engineering firm headquartered in Bochum, Germany.

STC Approves MDOT’s Five-Year Transportation Program

The Michigan State Transportation Commission (STC) on Nov. 9 approved the final version of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) 2024-2028 Five-Year Transportation Program (5YTP) for posting on the agency’s website and transmission to the Michigan Legislature State Budget Director, and the House and Senate fiscal agencies by March 1, 2024.

Grant Funding Approved for Patriot Rail’s NDW

The Ohio Rail Development Commission (Rail Commission) on Nov. 9 approved $264,000 in grant funding to the Napoleon Defiance & Western Railway (NDW) and authorized staff to administer a recently awarded Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Consolidated Infrastructure and Safety Improvement (CRISI) grant.
