NASA Awards $38.4MM Contract to Support C3RS

NASA on Jan. 26 announced that it has awarded a contract to Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. of McLean, Va., for the maintenance and operation of incident reporting programs and continuing development to improve current and future reporting systems.

USDOT: $31.4MM for SNR, MRY

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) on Jan. 29 announced that its Build America Bureau has provided a $31.4 million Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing (RRIF) loan to Sierra Northern Railway (SNR) and Mendocino Railway (MRY) to expand and rehabilitate rail infrastructure in the Central Valley and Mendocino County, Calif.

Transit Briefs: STM, MBTA, HART, NJ Transit

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) deploys safety ambassadors on the métro network. Also, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) proposes low-income fare program; federal funding is approved for the ongoing construction of Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation’s (HART) Skyline rail system; and NJ Transit reallocates federal funding to support critical resiliency projects.

FRA: Railroads Required to Provide EEBAs

The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on Jan. 25 announced that it has issued a final rule requiring railroads to provide emergency escape breathing apparatuses (EEBAs) for train crew members and other employees who could be exposed to an inhalation hazard in the event of a hazardous material (hazmat) release.
