HNTB Names Mangione New York Office Leader

HNTB announced on Jan. 20 that Michael Mangione, Senior Vice President, has been named as the firm’s New York Office Leader, bringing more than 30 years of transportation industry experience and a “proven track record of leadership” to the role.

Transit Briefs: SEPTA, Brightline West, TTC

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) system-wide ridership for December 2025 decreases 1%. Also, work on Brightline West’s Las Vegas rail station is under way; and the Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC) Ontario Line subway system gets protective platform doors.

A new quarterly report shows that crime on the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) continues to drop. Also, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) receives the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Gold Standard Award; and Alto launches public consultations for its high-speed rail network.

Senators Introduce Passenger Rail Crew Protection Act

U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and John Hoeven (R-ND) recently introduced the bipartisan Passenger Rail Crew Protection Act (PRCPA) to enhance public safety by “ensuring passenger rail crew members are provided the legal protections that have been afforded to flight crew members and attendants for decades.”
