MTA Long Island Rail Road crews used accelerated bridge construction techniques to replace a railroad bridge in just two days in New York City’s New Hyde Park. The bridge was open for Monday commuters on Aug. 26.

Loram Australian Subsidiary Acquiring Aurizon Grinding Assets

Loram Pty Ltd., the wholly owned Australian subsidiary of Loram Maintenance of Way, Inc., has executed a binding agreement to acquire all the assets of the rail grinding business of Aurizon Operations Ltd. Upon completion, Loram will increase the number of Australian customers to which it provides rail grinding services by four, including all main line and turnout rail grinding for Aurizon Network Pty Ltd. Completion of the acquisition remains subject to certain conditions precedent.

Short-liners push for long-awaited tax credit

The time is now, say the 1,000 railroad and supplier members of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA), for Congress to act on the Short Line 45G tax credit, expired since December 2017.
