DART taps Axion for more ECOTRAX ties

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) plans to utilize Axion International's ECOTRAX railway ties for three miles of its planned Blue Line light rail transit extension into South Dallas, Tex.

The 100% recycled ties will be produced at Axion’s Waco, Tex., plant, which also has supplied ties for Trinity Railway Express right-of-way between Dallas and Fort Worth, Tex.

The ties include recycled plastic and fiberglass, and are produced without chemicals, Axion says, while being “completely resistant to outdoor elements.”

Axion International is based in New Providence, N.J.
