The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is a bi-state public agency operating some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the New York / New Jersey region including The Port Authority Trans Hudson Corporation (PATH), the primary transit link between Manhattan and New Jersey communities and suburban commuter railroads.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is seeking a Signal Supervisor to join our The Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation (PATH) team. The Signal Supervisor will be working under the direct supervision of the Chief Supervisor-Signal Maintenance and the Chief Supervisor-Signal Construction. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising unionized employees engaging in routine inspections, testing, repairs, maintenance, and installation of all signal equipment throughout the PATH system, including signal high-tension power feeders and related equipment. Preparing daily work assignments, filling vacant tours in accordance with established procedures. Making field inspections of equipment, assuring that routine FRA tests and inspections are performed and proper reports are submitted. Instructing subordinates, directing maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and testing activities, investigating causes of signal malfunctions; writing reports. Distributing charges to the proper accounts; processing time sheets; ordering materials, supplies, and tools.
 
Eligibility Requirements: Must possess a four-year standard or vocational high school or equivalency diploma. Must possess five years continuous full-time paid work experience on a Railroad or Transit Signal System, or equivalent title just as a Signal Supervisor, Signal Foreman, Signal Inspector, Signal Maintenance Specialist, Lead Signal Maintainer, ATC Mechanic, Signal/Electronic/or Train Control Technician or Testman. Valid driver’s license required.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate will present the following qualifications profile: Extensive knowledge of Railroad or Transit Signal and Train Control Systems operation, maintenance, installation, and testing. Experience with vital and non-vital processor signal control systems is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of FRA signal regulations and testing requirements. Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret signal system circuit diagrams, wiring schematics, processor logic and diagnostics, and event recorder data. Demonstrated organizational and administrative abilities. Demonstrated ability to clearly understand, transmit, and produce written and oral technical instructions and reports. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a large subordinate group of unionized employees. Demonstrated knowledge of personal computer applications in MS Office Programs. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical/electronic test instruments and procedures. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff at all levels and with outside consultants, contractors, and vendors. Demonstrated decision-making and problem solving skills. Physical ability to climb and work at heights and in tunnels with active electrified tracks (600vdc 3rd rail), and possess an unrestricted sense of sight, smell, and hearing. Color acuity is necessary to correctly identify wires and distinguish basic colors.
