IRSE-NAS events set for RSSI

Vantuono, Editor-in-ChiefThe North American Section of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE-NAS) isholding its Annual General Meeting and Mini Conference on Monday, May 17, beginning at 1:00 p.m., in Omaha, prior to the opening reception of the RSSIC&S Exhibition in Omaha. There is no cost for anyone interested in attending. This year’s theme is “Implementing Positive Train Control.” Conference topics include “AAR Interoperable Train Control Update,” “Reliability in Wayside Interface Units,” “Standards for PTC,” “Risk Assessment,” and “Testing and Maintenance.”
There will also be a field trip to the Union Pacific Railroad on Thursday, May 20. Specifically, the visit includes the HarrimanDispatch Center and a visit to an important UP interlocking equipped with high speed turnouts at Missouri Valley, Iowa (just north of Omaha), where the busy Boone and Omaha Subdivisions intersect.
There is no charge for the site visit, but those interested in attending must be prepared with safety shoes and personal protective equipment.
