Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-Chief

Bombardier Transportation said Wednesday it has signed a seven-year contract with the City and County of Denver, Department of Aviation(CCD), to operate and maintain the INNOVIA APM 100 automated peoplemover system at Denver International Airport (DIA) from 2011 to 2017. The contract is valued at approximately $101 million.

The INNOVIA APM 100 system first opened for passenger services with inauguration of the new airport in 1995.

Bombardier said CCD has become the third organization this year to prolong Operation and Maintenance (O&M) services with Bombardier for an INNOVIA automated people mover system, joining Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Germany’s Frankfurt Airport.

Bombardier has been providing O&M services at DIA since 1994, and says it has “consistently exceeded the contract availability of 99.65%.” The dual lane INNOVIA APM 100 system opened in 1995 with 16 vehicles.
