KCS expands tie disposal agreement
Written by William C. Vantuono, Editor-in-ChiefKansas City Southern has entered into a comprehensive new agreement for tie disposal with St. Louis-based Wood Energy Group, a wholly-owned subsidiaryof Banyan Rail Services Inc.
The original agreement called for KCS to deliver ties to Wood Energy to KCS for disposal. The expanded agreement covers the gathering, pick-up, and disposal of ties along KCS’ 3,500-mile, 10-state system.
Wood Energy will pick up and remove more than 500,000 railroad ties per year for the next two years.
Banyan Rail Services Inc. is a railroad support services company headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla.
